Product Description:

The quokka, a small wallaby-like marsupial, is an iconic part of Australia's natural heritage. It holds cultural significance for the Noongar people, the traditional custodians of south-west Australia. Once abundant across the region, their population has significantly declined due to habitat loss and predation. Today, quokkas are
primarily found in the south-west of Western Australia, particularly Rottnest Island, an idyllic location 18 kilometres off the coast near Perth. Comparable in size to domestic cats, they have dense grey-brown fur, a broad face, round furry ears, and striking black eyes. Famous for their friendly nature and characteristic “smiling”
expression, quokkas have rightfully earned their reputation as the “happiest animals on Earth.”

The coin’s coloured reverse portrays a family of happy quokkas standing on white sand amongst colourful foliage. The background depicts the blue Indian ocean and the iconic Wadjemup lighthouse located at the highest point of the island. Included in the design is the inscription ‘QUOKKA’, the 2025 year-date, and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

The coin is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid. Packaged within an illustrated shipper, each coin is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity
