Product Description:

The term "Great Southern Land" refers to the majestic continent situated in the Southern Hemisphere, known today as Australia. This term embodies the unique biodiversity and landscape that this expansive land is renowned for. From
the lush tropical rainforests to the arid, sun-soaked deserts, Australia is home to an array of vibrant and distinct wildlife.

Home to First Nations people for at least 60,000 years, today Australia supports about 850 bird species, of which roughly 45% are found nowhere else on Earth, while it is estimated that there are hundreds of thousands of insects – with many still waiting to be formally identified.

Celebrating Australia’s iconic flying species, the coin portrays representations (clockwise from top) of an Australian wedge-tailed eagle; a kookaburra; a splendid fairy wren; a blue banded bee; a birdwing butterfly; a sugar glider; a
sulphur crested cockatoo; and a willie wagtail. The design encircles an insert of blue lepidolite. A lithium bearing mineral found in a variety of colours, the blue-coloured variant comes exclusively from a location in Western Australia
approximately 280 kilometres north of Perth.

The background is composed of native flora motifs, along with The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the coin’s weight, purity, and 2025 year-date. The obverse depicts the Dan Thorne effigy of
His Majesty King Charles III, and the monetary denomination.

Note: As each insert is crafted from natural blue
lepidolite stone, inherent variations in coloration and patterning are to be expected. Consequently, every coin in the mintage may display a unique appearance.
