All 1986 to 2024 1/10th to 1oz Kangaroo/Nugget Gold Coins
The Perth Mint’s Australian Gold Kangaroo is one of the world's most well-known and internationally recognised coins.
First minted in 1986, the Australian Gold Kangaroo coin went by the name ‘Australian Gold Nugget.’ Why? Well, the first coin designs between 1986 - 1989 featured imagery of natural Australian gold nuggets.
In 1989, The Perth Mint released a proof edition of the Australian Gold Nugget featuring a more internationally recognised symbol of Australia, the Australian Kangaroo. The new coin’s design featured a bounding kangaroo surrounded by rays of sunlight which is now featured on these stunning coins every year with their design updated annually make them wonderfully collectable.
One of the most unique qualities of the Australian Kangaroo coin is that their reverse designs change annually. The coin also features a unique two-toned frosted effect, a limited mintage and are sold presented in an acrylic plastic capsule. Unusual for bullion coins, these features make the Australian Gold Kangaroos popular among investors and collectors alike.
Australian Gold Nugget and Kangaroo Coins are struck from 99.99% pure gold.
