The Bull of Clarence, a mythical emblem from the Wars of the Roses, is depicted in commemorative bullion form. The next addition to the Royal Mint's Tudor Beasts series, the first of which to feature King Charles III.
The legend says that in a prophetic dream, George Plantagenet, 1st Duke of Clarence saw a bull that symbolised House York. The bull represented their dreams and desires for the English throne because it was robust and powerful. But in his dream, the bull was ultimately vanquished and killed by a boar, signifying the opposing House of Lancaster. This dream was thought to have predicted the House of York's eventual demise, which did occur.
