You may notice while browsing our products that Gold bullion bars come in two different types: cast and minted bars. Cast Bars are straightforward and sometimes rugged bars stamped with the brand, weight and purity percentage.  Minted bars are highly detailed bars, sometimes with a design. The brand, weight and percentage of purity will also feature on it. Due to the more refined process required to manufacture a minted bar, they are typically more expensive than cast bars to purchase.

Whether you buy a 99.99% minted bar or a 99.99% cast bar of the same weight, the purity of the gold content is exactly the same.  The only difference between the two bars is the process in which it is made and how this affects their aesthetic finish.

So which do you choose?  It comes down to personal preference.  If you prefer a more attractive bar, minted bars are the better choice.  They are also usually presented in tamper-proof protective packaging with an assay card that verifies the bar's authenticity and is aesthetically more attractive. Some people like to be able to hold their bar physically in their hand, or buy gold for the best price per ounce, in which case a cast bar would be the better choice.
