Because of this, it is intended that larger gold bars, particularly kilo bars, are bought with the intention to be stored away for long periods of time and to grow in value without needing to access or liquidate them in the near future. As a result, buying larger gold bars is often suited to more experienced investors.

Because of the significant purchasing costs of larger gold bars and coins, they can be harder to sell as there is less market demand – not everyone is able to make such large upfront investments. In saying this, there are some advantages to buying larger gold bars. The larger the gold bar you buy, the lower the price you pay per ounce or gram of gold. This is because premiums are reduced the larger the size of the gold bar that you purchase.

You can buy 2oz to kilo gold bullion bars in cast or minted varieties. Minted bars come sealed in tamper-proof packaging with assay certificates, providing an additional guarantee that the bars you have purchased are authentic. We recommend that minted gold bars are not removed from their sealed packaging. If you prefer to hold your bullion bars, buying loose cast bars is a better option for you – they are often sold at more affordable prices too. Cast bars are more rugged bars and therefore require less effort to manufacture.
