This 1/4oz silver coin features the spectacular coloured 2018 Year of the Dog design. The birth dates for people ruled by the Chinese Lunar dog include 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006 and 2018. Those born under the influence of this sign are said to be loyal, amiable, kind and friendly. Each coin is struck by The Perth Mint from 1/4oz of 99.99% pure silver, and is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
The reverse of each coin depicts a coloured German Shepherd dog and pup lying in grass with Chinese peony flowers in the background. The Chinese character for “dog” and the inscription “Year of the Dog” also appear in the design with The Perth Mint”s traditional “P” mintmark.
