A remarkably low initial mintage for this series, Just 458,082 coins in total were struck from 1878 to 1906, with annual production ranging from less than 10,000 to 40,000 coins at the most produced in a year. This is an incredibly small number of coins produced by one of the largest mints in Europe, significantly less for this size of coin than the vast majority of international counterparts.
